Bow Clock #2
« on: September 06, 2005, 07:57:44 AM »

This clock was a group collaborative project of The Central Ohio Woodturners.  The parts were made by various club members and assembled by me, using #1 as a pattern.  It was entered in the competition at the national convention of the AWW in Kansas City in July.  It won best in the technical class and best of show.  It was sold to a collector from New York.

Awesome!

(And - of course - a question):
How did you accurately drill the center pallet arm yoke?  (that holds the arms that hold the Entrance and Exit Pallets of the Grasshopper).

Drilling

I mounted the disk on an arbor and mounted the arbor in an index head on my mill.  I then drilled the first hole,  indexed the required number of degrees and drilled the second hole.  I also drilled and tapped the hole for the counter balance at this time.  The counter balance shaft is threaded so that I can tighten it to lock the unit on the pendulum axle.
